Panama Fire Ins. How to Apply?

Fire InsuranceIn Panama, we separate coverage for "Structure" and "Contents". In order to apply for structure coverage we need:

1. $$$ value of structure (not including land). A recent "avaluo" (appraisal) or pics will help.
2. Name of insured (Owner)? Is the policy to be issued in your name or that of a Corp. or Foundation?
3. Exact address and type of Construction (Cement or Wood)? Rates differ by location (City, Beach, Island or Mountain?)
4. What is the proximity of the property to the ocean or a river?
5. Is the property exposed to landslide (close to a cliff or mountainside)? Landslide coverage requires an additional premium.
6. Copy of your Passport or ID of the legal Representative + RUC# (Corp. or Foundation)
7. Tel#, Cel#, email address?

¨Persona Natural¨ form (if property is in your name) or Persona Juridica form (completed by legal rep. of Corp.). This is an "anti money laundering" form required for every Panama policy with over $300 premium (more bureaucratic BS that must be kept on file in our office) Fill in the sections identified as ¨Datos Generales¨ and ¨Datos Ocupacionales¨ and sign where it says ¨Firma del Cliente¨. We will be glad to help you complete in the form.

Are you renting your Panama Condo/House to 3rd parties?

Fire InsuranceHere in Ducruet, we have designed a special program to cover your property and extend certain coverage to your TENANTS.

First of all, we recommend that you insure YOUR contents under a homeowner´s multirisk policy. This policy will include coverage for fire, theft, explosion, earthquake, hurricane/windstorm, flood, smoke and water damages. It will also cover your electronic equipment ( % of the basic sum insured); theft ( % of the basic sum insured); break in with forced entry and assault (up to $250.00 cash) inside or outside the premises.

Within this basic policy, there is General Liability Coverage up to $100,000.00. This protection also extends to damage sustained by your neighbors from an incident originating in your residence.

If you are renting to third parties, we recommend that you request a "special endorsement" extending the Personal Liability coverage to these inquilinos(renters):

This special endorsement will extend coverage to the damages caused to third parties as a result of the renter’s negligence for which they are legally liable.

Does my Panama Fire Policy Cover "Windstorm"?

Fire Insurance With the recent occurrence of a large "Waterspout" in the vicinity of Punta Paitilla/Pacifica on Christmas Day, I have been asked to express an opinion about the coverage available in the average Panama Fire policy. Driving down Via Brazil that afternoon, I couldn't believe my eyes as I witnessed this "monster" move near Paitilla. If your policy has "extended coverage", the "windstorm" optional risk should pay for damages caused by wind (vendaval), Hurricane (Huracan), Tornado, or Waterspout (Tromba Marina). For coverage to protect your property call Kevin 322-1603 or Carmen 322-1605 More...

Purchasing a SAFE in Panama!

Fire InsuranceContributed by: Brett Mikkelson

http://bminvestigations.com/

Upon purchasing a safe, there are several general things that you should account for to ensure you are buying the right one for your needs.

1. Security is obviously the first and foremost point that you need to take into consideration. There are safes to hold documents, (fire resistant for 1-2 hours), and there are three levels of theft prevention safes as well (high, medium and low).
